Printer - old fashioned

Staff are able to use the very latest printing technology

Staff self-service

The Managed Print Service for staff consists of around 200 Xerox Multi-Functional Devices (MFDs) which offer printing, copying and scanning to email or OneDrive for Business.

Using the new printers:

All devices in the service offer printing, copy, and scan-to-email. And for the first time you can scan-to-OneDrive for Business too. Some of the devices can provide colour print/copy. A3 is also an option on many of them. Most can staple and hole punch.

To use the printers you will need to select the correct printer. Printing is ‘secure release, follow-you’.

  • If you're using a University of Exeter laptop or PC use the  ‘STAFF_FOLLOWME’ option.
  • If you're your own laptop, mobile or tablet download the 'MOBILE_FOLLOWME' drivers. Then select 'MOBILE_FOLLOWME'.
  • Swipe your ID Card or log in using your username and password.

All staff printing and copying is logged against a 4-digit department billing code, so that a monthly invoice can be compiled and issued.  The billing codes are issued to your department by the Management Accounting team - if you are unsure of the code to use, please check with your colleagues or your department's admin or finance team.

The service is both reactive and proactive to ensure that wherever possible, equipment availability is maximised:

  • All MFDs are monitored remotely for status by the Xerox Managed Print Team.
  • If a device needs toner or other consumables, these will be ordered and supplied by the Xerox Managed Print.
  • New to the team is an onsite Xerox Service Engineer who will be available to rectify technical faults.
  • The distribution of devices within buildings has been optimised so that in the event of a technical fault with a particular MFD, another device is a short walk away.

For high-volume printing or special orders for printing and finishing (for example: business cards, flyers, posters, stationery) please see Print & Copy Services.
