Programme approval
The University needs to ensure that any new or revised units or programmes are academically appropriate and sound, and that any sufficient resource can and will be made available to ensure their successful delivery. To ensure this, all proposals to introduce or change units or programmes must be undertaken in accordance with the procedures in the TQA manual.
The approval process has been significantly revised from 1 January 2009. The key change is the removal of the Programme Accreditation Committee with authority given to the Dean of the Faculty of Taught Programmes for approval of new programmes and to School Learning and Teaching Committees for approval of amendments to programmes. Full details of these procedures can be found in the TQA manual.
If you have any queries about the Programme Approval process you should contact the Programme Approval link person in your School in the first instance. If they are unable to help then please contact the Programme Approval Coordinator in the Taught Faculty.
For more information on the design of modules and programmes, please visit the Programme and module development pages.
