SCONUL Access Scheme

What is SCONUL access?  SCONUL Access is a reciprocal scheme which allows many university library users to borrow or use books and journals at other libraries which belong to the scheme. 

Who is eligible to apply?  Academic & Support Staff; Full time and Part time PhD students; Full time and Part time Undergraduates; Full Time and Part time Postgraduates; Placement Students

What happens next?

If you're a member of University of Exeter Library and want to use another UK library:

  1. Wait to receive SCONUL Access reply email
  2. Follow instructions in the email
  3. Read the SCONUL Access User Guide
  4. Check with host institution before visiting, as access may be restricted during busy periods (e.g. exams)

If you're a member of another UK library and want to use University of Exeter Library: 

  1. You'll need to contact us in advance of visiting
  2. Wait to receive your SCONUL Access Approved email
  3. Forward SCONUL Access Approved email and your home address and mobile number to library@exeter.ac.uk 
  4. We will contact you with joining information.
  5. Your primary access to e-resources will be provided by your home institution. Access to some UoE electronic resources is available via our Walk In Access computer located at the Forum Library.
