Newspapers
Newspapers can be a valuable source of information for your studies, and are often a vital supplement to academic sources such as scholarly journal articles, monographs and conference papers. They are particularly useful in the following ways:
- They are immediately responsive to events, and so are essential for current awareness in many subjects.
- They are useful for researching current issues which are often not addressed immediately by academic writers.
- They are important as source material for historical research, not only for their textual content, but as historical documents in themselves. For example, much can be learned about social history through newspaper illustrations and advertisements.
