You are always encouraged to factor the costs of OA publishing into bids for funding.
During 2012 the University will be piloting a scheme to provide funding to cover the costs of OA publishing for researchers who do not currently have funding or access to funds.
Researchers will be able to publish at discounted rates in BioMed Central and PLoS and apply to have the costs met by the University. In addition, we have set up a fund to cover the costs of publication in any journal that operates an Open Access payment scheme. We particularly encourage Wellcome Trust-funded researchers to apply for funds as part of this funding has been supplied to us by the Wellcome Trust specifically for Open Access publishing.
If you would like to know more or apply for funding contact Jill Evans, the Open Access Manager.
