The Arab World Documentation Unit is currently located on the lower floor of the Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies Building on the Streatham Campus. As part of an expansion and enhancement programme, it will move to Level -1 June end 2012 to the Research Commons [Old Library], Prince of Wales Road, EX4 4SB, meaning longer opening hours and greater accessibility of items.
To help you find your way around the library, please take a look at the floor plans:
The Unit provides reference services on the Arab region, including official publications on various aspects of the region (economics, politics, development, social and cultural aspects and history). The holdings cover many different subject areas of interest to those who study the Middle East. Besides the Gulf Region it has strengths in general Middle East economics, politics, and history: particularly the history of the Gulf wars and the Arab-Israeli conflict, and of British and international involvement in the region, 18th century onwards.
During term time AWDU is open on week days only between 10.00 and 16.00.
