Hardware Maintenance
Exeter campuses:
IT hardware is generally covered against faults and breakdowns by a warranty from its manufacturer or supplier, usually for between one and four years from the date of purchase.
After the warranty expires, University Schools and Professional Services can purchase extended cover for their IT equipment through IT Services. If the equipment develops a fault it can then be repaired by our approved external contractor. This applies to most equipment purchased directly from external suppliers, as well as to equipment ordered through IT Services.
Maintenance cover is managed by an online Hardware Maintenance Management System, which gives authorised representatives of Schools and Professional Services control over the arrangements for IT hardware in their own area.
