Username and Password
New students
If you are a new full-time Home/EU undergraduate, postgraduate or a part-time student you will receive a registration email, which will include your student ID number and a four-digit security code.
With these details, you can obtain your IT username and password online, by visiting the IT account activation web page.
If you can do so then it is strongly suggested that you visit this webpage and activate your IT Account before you arrive here at the University of Exeter. However, if you do arrive on campus having been unable to visit the online activation page, then you can activate your IT Account by visiting one of the Account Activation Stations using your UniCard.
International Full-Time
If you are a new full-time International undergraduate or postgraduate to activate your account for IT access please visit the IT account activation web page where you will be asked to enter your student ID number and your UniCard number. This will allow you to collect your username and password (we suggest you print this out for reference).
You can activate your IT Account by visiting one of the Account Activation Stations using your UniCard:
As an International student you will not be able to obtain your UniCard or register until the required document checks have taken place. Details will be sent to you in your registration email.
Returning students
Usernames, passwords and e-mail addresses for returning students will remain the same as last year.
All full-time returning students studying on campus will register for their University course online using the SRS student record system.
Returning students who have not registered with e-Vision by 15 October 2010 will have their IT accounts suspended and will need to contact the Registry Services Team.
Use your existing username and password from last year to login to the SRS student record system.
If you have forgotten your password, you will need to have it reset by the IT Help Desk.
Returning students studying abroad or off campus will keep their existing username and password.
Staff and others
If you are a new member of the University staff you will probably find that your IT Account has been automatically created and is with your induction facilitator for collection prior to you starting here.
If this has not been done, then you will need to complete and sign a staff and associates IT account activation form.
If you cannot supply a valid employee number or associate card number on the form, you will need the signature of the Authorised Signatory for your College or Service and obtain a card after your account has been created.
By signing the form you agree to abide by the University’s Rules and regulations for IT use.
Staff and associates IT account activation forms are also available from the IT Help Desk.
Associates and other categories
If you have a work-related reason to access University facilities (honorary research staff, visiting lecturers, etc.) you can apply for a username and password.
You will first need to obtain a UniCard from the University Card Office
Once you have this you can complete the IT Account Activation Form
If you cannot supply a valid employee number or associate card number on the form, you will need the signature of the Authorised Signatory for your College or Service and obtain a card after your account has been created.
By signing the form you agree to abide by the University's Rules and regulations for IT use.
Staff and associates IT account activation forms are also available from the IT Help Desk.
Retired staff
If you are retiring, you can usually retain your existing University IT account – but an account cannot be created or recreated if there has been a break between retirement and application for a retired staff UniCard. To confirm your eligibility to use IT facilities, contact the IT Help Desk.
Account Amendments
If you already have a University of Exeter username and password and your details have changed, please contact the IT Help Desk.
