About Special Collections

Heritage Collections is the part of the Library division of Academic Services with responsibility for the University's collection of archives, manuscripts, rare books and records. We hold research and historic materials which, because of their value, rarity or uniqueness, require secure closed-access storage and supervised use. Our dedicated reading room is housed in the Research Commons, Old Library and we also administer the historic Devon and Exeter Institution Library in the Cathedral Close, Exeter. Our staff include Archives, Library, Museum and Records Management professionals, who work closely with academic schools and departments to provide a high-quality learning and research environment for students, staff and external researchers.
